These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and [LEGAL NAME / COMPANY] (“we”, “us”) about your use of the Milepost mobile app (“the App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the App. If you got the App from the Apple App Store, the Apple terms below also apply.

- Milepost Pro subscriptions
- Company licenses

The App
Milepost shows railway lines, mile markers and related infrastructure on a map, using data packs you download to your device. Most of the App works offline. Downloading regions, the background map, accounts, purchases and in-app directions need an internet connection.
Accounts
You can use the App without an account. If you create one, by email and password or with Sign in with Apple, give accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time in the App under Account, then Delete account, which permanently removes your account and profile from our servers.
Milepost Pro subscriptions
- Some features (“Pro”) need a paid subscription or a one-time purchase. Pro includes viewing rail point features, going to a specific mile and in-app directions. Prices and plan lengths are shown in the App before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price and for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the App or your Milepost account doesn't cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it ends when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; we can't issue refunds for store purchases.
- We may change Pro features or prices. Price changes for existing subscriptions follow the store's notice and consent rules.
Company licenses
An organization may give you Pro through a license key or an email invite. That access depends on your organization's agreement with us and may end when the organization removes your seat or its license ends. Your organization can see that you hold a seat.
Safety, accuracy and lawful use
- Rail data comes from OpenStreetMap and other open sources, and may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Mile markers, positions, track layouts, crossings and directions are estimates. Don't rely on them for safety-critical, operational, emergency or legal purposes.
- Milepost is not a railway operations, dispatch or safety tool, and isn't affiliated with any railway or operator.
- Never trespass on railway property. Tracks and rights-of-way are dangerous and usually private property, and being on them without permission is illegal in most places. Driving directions lead to the nearest public road, not onto railway land. Obey all signs, signals, laws and instructions from railway staff.
- Don't use the App in a way that distracts you while driving or operating equipment.
- Don't use the App to plan or carry out anything illegal, including vandalism, theft or interfering with railway infrastructure.
Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer, scrape or bulk-download the App's services beyond normal use; get around rate limits or Pro checks; resell or redistribute the App or its data packs except as the open-data licenses below allow; or interfere with our servers or other users.
Data licenses and third-party content
Map and rail data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Background map tiles by OpenFreeMap. Road routes by Mapbox. Navigation hands off to Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze, whose own terms apply. We're not responsible for third-party services.
Intellectual property
Apart from the open data above, the App, its design and its code belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the store's usage rules.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App and all data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from reliance on the App's data or from entering railway property. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so some may not apply to you.
Termination and changes
We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. We may update these Terms; if the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the App or by email. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the new Terms.
